I have reluctantly turned on comment moderation since the spam comments outnumber by far the real comments. I don't like doing this, but it seems more time efficient.
Is anyone else being plagued by spam comments? Has there been a rash of them in the last six weeks or has some evil blog directory been updated to include mine?

I had to turn on comment moderation at Math Mama Writes. I was getting ones like:
Great writing, keep it up! [link for writing tips]
The amusing part was that it wasn't 'great writing'. It was a personal post on my computer troubles.
I believe Kate, at f(t), has also turned on moderation due to spam.
I haven't been too active on my blog and realized yesterday that there were 195 comments requiring moderation - 7 were real and the rest spam. In addition, there were 35 spam comments identified as such by Blogger. I have changed my settings to get notifications of comments awaiting moderation - don't know if I missed that in December, or whether it wasn't there. I have also set the word verification on, hoping to weed out some of it.
