Presentation Zen

This was one of my favorite links, long before I even knew it was a blog entry. It contrasts Steve Jobs' presentation style to Bill Gates'. Think about how artful Lessig's presentation from my previous blog entry is.

Today, I found on Vicki Davis' del.icio.us feed the link to a recent interview with Garr Reynolds, the author, about good presentations.

Lots of food for thought here.

From the crosslisting at commun-it.org:

Great links Ross - thanks. I confess I have been a PPT addict for many years in fact before it was created (had a DOS program called FXSHow - still have it but no 5 1/4" drive to use it)

I have always felt that the presenter is the star of the show and the screen is merely the backdrop or fireplace around which stories are told - only this backdrop is fully controllable by the star! I am constantly surprised by the techniques that people use with such programs - the most common being reading the whole screen to me! I am amazed how many people think that merely using it makes the content and how they use it OK. They seem to forget everything they know about teaching. Richard Mayer has some great theoretical stuff that I find interesting.

Having given a few sessions on the topic I have a site with some links that may be of use. I haven't updated it recently and it is a VERY simple site but it may contain some links that are new to you. It is here (http://fcis.oise.utoronto.ca/~gday/PowerPoint/)
