Minimizing Ridicule

Another fine post at Presentation Zen led me to this interesting quadratic relationship from the Indexed blog. There is something here akin to the Mathematical Poetry that I wrote about previously. Can you imagine asking students to create graphs like these?

I have been reading 'indexed' for quite a while. Her simple cards are brilliant. A unique blend of visual humour with a mathematical eye. Coming up with the categories to compare is the hard part. Perhaps for kids, you could give them the categories to get them started, and then maybe 'do one of your own'. It might be interesting to see what they come up with!
