Apple bites

I have to admit that after watching Apple's iBooks Author video, I was trying to figure out how to get an OS 10.7 computer to download the authoring application and an iPad to test the results and imagining authoring all kinds of marvelous content but then I got to thinking...

• you mean I can't view my publication on any computer, even a Mac?
• you mean that if I want to sell my publication, it has to be through Apple's store?
• you mean that Apple wants to be the sole provider of textbook delivery?

Now I am thinking that it is almost a moral imperative to take a pass.  

Having an easy application to create digital materials is a wonderful idea.  Forcing those materials to live in a proprietary format, available for sale in an exclusive Apple store is not.  Isn't that what Steve Jobs said he didn't like about Flash?

My Buddy Doug

Although, I am a little behind in my reading of Doug Peterson's blog, he always has fascinating links and articles to dig into.  Yesterday, it was the Dolphin Mobile browser and a post about Blogger Mobile layouts.  The latter had me blow away the widgets on this blog for a few minutes until I found the revert button.

Today, was a fun diversion that appealed to my vanity.  When we were growing up, we thought we were the only Iseneggers in the new world, but the internet and Nadine cured that notion.
